9 ‒ 13 March 2026
Dear friends of Ukraine,
After a disastrous January, the mood in Ukraine has improved significantly. The T-shirt weather in March has had a big influence, but there are also a number of tangible military reasons:
- The Ukrainian army is recapturing territories that the aggressor had occupied at great cost. One of the reasons for these successes is the difficulties faced by the russians following the loss of their Starlink connections. Being professionals, the Ukrainians have exploited this weakness. A possible russian spring offensive will be more difficult.
- Ukraine is successfully attacking in depth, not only with Western weapons, but also with its own Flamingo and Neptune missiles. We wish the Ukrainian armed forces continued success in destroying russian arms production.
- The war in Iran is changing perceptions of Ukrainian capabilities and its companies. Ukrainian-made interceptor drones are selling like hot cakes to the US and Gulf states. These purchases are likely to increase awareness among partners that modern defence requires Ukraine's involvement. Support for the country will therefore grow. And Ukrainian defence companies are becoming increasingly interesting as cooperation partners for Western companies.
Meanwhile, we at the AHK are looking forward to the first Annual Members' Forum on 19 March. You can join us from Germany as we discuss the framework conditions for companies in Kyiv. The next day (20 March), we will have the managing director of UkraineInvest at the AHK Ukraine Talk in our office. We cordially invite you to attend.
Kind regards from Cherkasy
