Dear friends of Ukraine,
The Ukrainian parliament has created the legal conditions enabling Ukraine to receive the 90-billion-euro loan from Europe. The law also sets out the conditions attached to the loan. The law was passed by a large majority. This is likely also linked to the pressure of the situation. If the funds do not flow into Ukraine, the country faces the threat of national bankruptcy.
There is no sign of this sense of urgency regarding many of the reforms demanded by the International Monetary Fund. Many MPs are standing in the way of the reforms, and the government is evidently exerting little pressure. We are curious to see what the IMF delegation, which has been in Kyiv for talks since yesterday, makes of this.
The AHK is more active on reforms than the Ukrainian parliament. We have launched a database where we are compiling a list of German companies willing to cooperate. We already have 130 entries. We aim to bring these companies together with Ukrainian defence firms so that joint ventures can be established for Ukrainian production in Germany.
