Dear friends of Ukraine,
russia's largest air strike on the country to date has hit a government building in Kyiv for the first time. The top floors were engulfed in flames. The attack makes it clear that Ukraine needs to further expand its defence capabilities.
This is precisely where the EU's support comes in: €6 billion is to be invested in establishing a decentralised Ukrainian drone industry. The plan is to manufacture first-person view (FPV) drones, interceptor drones and long-range models.
Due to high demand on the front lines, the Ukrainian drone industry has extremely short development cycles – something that not only Ukraine but also German companies can benefit from. Our member Quantum Systems is supplying Ukraine with new Vector AI drones that can detect enemy artillery from up to 15 km away, thereby protecting Ukrainian troops.
Europe's investments and corporate innovation are giving Ukraine the resources it needs for its defence right now – which can also benefit security west of Ukraine.
Greetings from Kyiv
