Dear friends of Ukraine,
From this week onwards, Ukraine intends to allow its companies to sell weapons abroad. This move has long been anticipated and called for by the companies themselves. They are able to produce more than the Ukrainian state purchases from them, and they are looking ahead to the post-war period. The opportunity to export is also likely to boost investor interest in Ukrainian companies.
Here at the AHK, we are keen to help Ukrainian companies find partners in Germany. To this end, our new colleague Serhii Sviatenko has taken up his post this week. He will be responsible for defence cooperation and infrastructure protection, supporting members, delegations and a working group for businesses, compiling information and organising a defence conference.
Meanwhile, the debate over Ukraine’s EU membership continues in Kyiv. At a forum in Kyiv, the EU Ambassador, Katarina Maternova, proposed that Ukrainian agriculture should not be included in the Common Agricultural Policy. This is, of course, not a problem for Ukraine, given its vast land area and fertile soil. It will not be the only concession on the path to EU membership.
We wish you a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
