27 ‒ 31 October 2025
Dear friends of Ukraine,
starting in November, Ukraine plans to export arms in a controlled but systematic manner. This was one of the topics of the week in Kyiv. The exports are intended to generate money for the state budget, help finance Ukrainian producers and also attract international investors to the sector. Ukraine is promoting itself on the basis of its unique location, where technologies can be developed much faster than in Western Europe.
One result of these favourable conditions is the Ukrainian start-up Firepoint. Within a short period of time, it developed a cruise missile that can fly up to 3,000 kilometres and carry a warhead weighing over a tonne. Firepoint, like the entire Ukrainian defence industry, could use Western support to further develop its products. And the combination of Ukrainian capabilities and Western technology helps both sides.
Successful cooperation between Germany and Ukraine is, of course, also the headline for our big project in November. We have found some great company stories for the German-Ukrainian Business Awards and will be nominating our candidates next week. You can not only vote for your favourites in the online poll, but you can also take part in the dinner event.
We wish you a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards
