Dear friends of Ukraine,
The new Defence Minister Fedorov starts with a strong statement: 50,000 dead soldiers per month are supposed to make the war unbearable for russia. Technological progress through AI and robotisation is the key to achieving this goal. Fedorov is also expressing that he has no great expectations for the ongoing ‘peace negotiations’. He is simply being realistic. There are no signs that russia is abandoning its goal of abolishing Ukraine.
Meanwhile, russian attacks on energy infrastructure are also affecting businesses. Our members are increasingly reliant on generators to keep production running. This increases costs and reduces profits. However, as January is a rather weak month in many sectors, the losses are still limited.
In order to better protect Ukraine's power supply in the future, it should become more decentralised and rely more on renewable energies. An agreement between our member Notus Energy and the Horizon Capital fund pursues this goal. Notus Energy will build a wind farm in the Odesa region with the help of its partner. Many more projects are needed, but a start has been made.
We wish you a pleasant weekend.
