Dear friends of Ukraine,
The big topic of conversation in Kyiv remains the corruption scandal in the energy sector. After two ministers resigned from their posts, Ukrainians and their Western partners are waiting for the president to restore confidence. At our German-Ukrainian Business Dialogue on Tuesday, many participants said that personnel changes in the president's inner circle are necessary to achieve this.
The underlying opinion is that large-scale corruption in Ukraine is not possible without the presidential apparatus. This is led by Andrii Yermak, a long-time confidant of Zelensky. We, too, expect the President of Ukraine to put his apparatus at the service of the fight against corruption in future. Without confidence in the framework conditions, both foreign support and the interest of companies will dwindle.
On a personal note: We are looking forward to 27 November, when we will be launching a new event format with our dinner on the occasion of the AHK Business Awards. Tickets are still available and you can still have your say in who wins the awards.
