NBU Reduces Maximum Amount Of Money Transfers Without Identifying Bank Customers From UAH 15,000 To UAH 5,000 From April 28

22.04.2020

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reduced the maximum amount of money transfers without identifying bank customers from UAH 15,000 to UAH 5,000 from April 28.

The NBU has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that from April 28, 2020, updated requirements are established for the list of information about the payer and recipient, which should accompany the transfer of funds, but this, according to the National Bank, will not have a significant impact on the implementation of most transfer operations.

New requirements are introduced in connection with the entry into force of the Law on Prevention and Counteraction of Legalization of Criminally Received Money, Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

It is indicated that the law provides for 2 basic requirements: identification and verification of the payer, as well as support for the transfer of funds by the necessary list of data on the payer and the recipient.

At the same time, the updated requirements of the law do not apply to: payment of housing and utility services, payment of taxes, fines, other mandatory fees and payments (regardless of the amount), payment of a loan in the amount of up to UAH 30,000; transfers for payment of goods and services made by the payer using a payment card (or other electronic means of payment), if the card number accompanies the transfer (regardless of the amount), all cash transfers within Ukraine in the amount of up to UAH 5,000.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Bank forecasts a decrease in the volume of private money transfers to Ukraine by USD 0.5-1 billion in 2020 compared with 2019.
